TSS Social Enterprise Global Award for 2021
The TSS Social Enterprise Global Award for 2021 went to Grow-Trees.com. TiE Global, a non-profit organization dedicated to entrepreneurs in various industries, hosts the TSS Sustainability Awards. There are 15,000 members in 61 chapters in 14 countries right now.
TSS - The TiE Sustainability Conference 2021, billed as the world's largest sustainability summit addressing the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), drew 25,000 social entrepreneurs from 50+ countries. The summit took place on a virtual platform from October 4-6, 2021. The event recognizes businesses that focus on social impact by creating a tangible impact on society, communities, as well as setting an example by leading from the front.
Grow-Trees is one of 5 social innovators selected for the Silicon Valley Challenge by a panel comprising Sam Pitroda, Ronnie Screwvala, & Desh Deshpande from amongst several hundred participants at the 3rd Action for India Annual Forum in January 2014. Our CEO will get 2 weeks immersion program in Silicon Valley including at incubators like Launchpad, StartX at Stanford and Skydeck at Berkeley.
The AFI Silicon Valley Leadership Circle (SVLC) represents a group of distinguished business and technology leaders who are committed to supporting social innovation in India. AFI aims to leverage their international outpost to mobilize impact investments from the Valley to fund social innovations in India; facilitate mentorship and other linkages between the Valley and social entrepreneurs in India; and identify and explore synergies and partnerships between AFI and US-based funders.
The Global Impact Steering Committee of Young Presidents' Organization-World Presidents' Organization (YPO/WPO), the world's premier community of Chief Executives comprising 21,000 members, selected Pradip Shah (WPO, Mumbai Chapter) to be featured as a member working to make the world a better place and as an example of an "extraordinary member doing extraordinary things" for his work as co-founder of Grow-Trees.com along with Karan Shah.
Karan Shah, co-founder of Grow-Trees.com, was earlier recognized out of 14,000 participants in the The Power of Ideas program organized by The Economic Times in association with Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) at Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad.
- He was one of 75 selected for a short program at IIM, Ahmedabad;
- Grow-Trees.com was selected for a cash award of Rs 500,000
- Grow-Trees.com was selected for seed funding by CIIE out of funds provided by DST; and
- He was offered venture funding of Rs 10 million by Brand Equity
IIM Ahmedabad's Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) fosters innovation driven entrepreneurship in India through incubation, investment and training.
CIIE's incubation and investment activities received an impetus in 2007 following the creation of a dedicated physical infrastructure with support from IIM Ahmedabad, Government of India and the Gujarat Government and setting up of an autonomous entity (called CIIE Initiatives) for CIIE's incubation and investment activities. Apart from incubating and investing in over 50 innovative ventures across the high-tech sector, CIIE has taken up several initiatives to strengthen India's entrepreneurial ecosystem by providing mentoring, financial and knowledge inputs.
