A tree in Ohio, USA measures 8 feet in diameter and 96 feet tall.

It is named for its immature fruits as they appear like a cucumber. These fruits later turn red and open to release bright scarlet-orange seeds that dangle on a thin white thread. Its flowers are yellowish-green with many petals and blend with the foliage in spring.

In Canada, it is listed as an endangered species. Also known as “”The Shining Tree”” in North America, it is a popular tree for its shade and planted in parks and gardens. ”
