Deciduous Forest

What is a Deciduous Forest?

A forest in which trees and shrubs shed their leaves during the cold months of the year and re-grow new leaves the next spring.

They grow in areas where rainfall is sufficient to support tree growth and are apt for dealing in extreme temperate regions.

Deciduous forests lose their leaves to conserve water and to better survive the winter where growing is restricted. They enter a period of inactivity until the warmer weather returns and the growing season has begun once again.

Deforestation is a major cause of global warming and global warming has clear effects on the Earth’s deciduous forests.

If Delhi wants cleaner winters, it needs more green cover, not just temporary interventions. Clouds may not cooperate, but trees always will.
