West Indian Cherry

West Indian Cherry is native to South America, Southern Mexico and Central America. Today, it can be found growing in subtropical areas of Asia like India.

After 3 years, it produces significant numbers of bright red drupes. The fruit is edible and widely consumed in the native area. It is known for being extremely rich in Vitamin C and contains 1677.6 mg of Vitamin C in 100 g of fruit. The Vitamin C produced by the fruit is better absorbed by humans than synthetic ascorbic acid.

The fruit is also used to make juices, pulps and Vitamin C concentrate.

Absolut Vodka released Absolut Los Angeles – a limited-edition spirit flavored with “acerola”, aai, pomegranate and blueberry in July 2008.

If Delhi wants cleaner winters, it needs more green cover, not just temporary interventions. Clouds may not cooperate, but trees always will.
