| Umbrella Thorn tree is native to Africa. It can grow upto a height of 69 feet. It is known to tolerate high alkalinity, drought, high temperatures, sandy & stony soils and sand blasting. The gum is edible and can is used as Gum Arabic – as an emulsifier, thickening agent for food and a binder in paints. Many parts of this tree are used by natives for a vast number of purposes including decorations, weapons, tools and medicines. The tree is also emerging as an important species in the battle to ‘green the deserts’, as it is one of few trees to tolerate very harsh environments. |

Delhi Is Gasping Again, And This Time, Even the Clouds Refused to Help
Delhi is choking again. AQI levels have slipped into the ‘severe’ zone, cloud seeding failed, and emergency measures barely make a dent. Because the city doesn’t need one-off fixes, it needs long-term healing. Trees remain the simplest, most effective answer. They absorb carbon, trap dust, cool the air, and act as natural lungs. If Delhi wants cleaner winters, it needs more green cover, not just temporary interventions. Clouds may not cooperate, but trees always will.
