Trees up to 10 m high. Branches quadrangular; bark grey or greyish-green. Leaves up to 10 cm long and 5 cm broad, coriaceous, covered with stiff white hairs; petiole up to 1 cm long.

Flowers fragrant, in 3-7 flowered pedunculate heads. Corolla tube c. 1 cm long, orange-red; lobes 5-7 mm long, patent, whitish.
