Deciduous tree with young branches, pubescent. Leaves ovate, acuminate, base subequal, cuneate or rounded to subcordate, serrate to subentire.

Flowers in dense axillary clusters appear before leaves on branches of the current season. Perianth segments elliptic-ovate, pilose outside, densely hairy within, greenish. Ovary densely tomentose, style bifid, plumose. Drupe c.5 mm, subglobose, pubescent to slightly pilose when mature, faintly reticulate.
