Jmon Sugi is the oldest tree in Japan!

It dates back to the Jomon Period from which it gets its name and is estimated to be 2000 to 7000 years old. It is 25.3 meters or 83 feet tall and its trunk circumference is 16.4 meters or 54 feet. It is located on the north face of Miyanoura-dake, the highest peak on Yakushima, Japan at an elevation of 1,300 meters or 4,300 feet.
