The Norway spruce

“The Norway spruce, Picea abies, is a large, fast growing evergreen coniferous tree native to Central and Eastern Europe.

This tree is considered be one of the most economically important coniferous species in Europe. It is widely planted for its wood, and is used as the main Christmas tree is several cities around the world. It is also used as an ornamental tree in parks and gardens.

It is more tolerant to hot and humid weather than many other conifers.

Norway Spruces cone scales and bark is used as food by different types of caterpillars. A herbal tea can be made from the leafy twigs and is reputed to have various curative powers, though not tested medicinally.
