The rose bush called the Thousand Year Rose grows on a wall of the Hildesheim Cathedral in Germany. It is around 21 meters or 69 feet high and 9 meters or 30 feet wide. The cathedral and the adjacent church have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. Today, the base of the Thousand-year Rose is protected by an iron fence. Each of the central roots is named and catalogued to protect one of the oldest pieces of natural beauty one can find. |
