It is found in Nottinghamshires Sherwood Forest and beat six other oaks, two yews and an apple tree to win Englands Tree of the Year title in November 2014.

It is a 1,000-year-old hollow oak, reputed to have hidden Robin Hood from the Sheriff of Nottingham. It weighs around 23 tons, has a girth of 10 meters or 33 feet and a spread of 28 meters or 92 feet. It is estimated to be between 800 and 1,000 years old and is one of nearly 997 ancient oaks within Sherwood Forest country park.
