California foothill pine is native to the USA.
It can grow to over 100 feet in height and common names include foothill pine, ghost pine, bull pine and nut pine.
It was also called “”digger pine”” as it was observed that the Paiute (Indigenous Tribes) searched for its seeds by digging around the base of the tree.
Native Americans used the nuts of the tree as a source of food.”
