Marking Nut

Marking Nut is a deciduous tree native to India. It was called “marking nut” by Europeans as it was used by washermen to mark clothes before washing, as it imparted a water insoluble mark to the cloth.
Its fruits are used as a dye and is also used in traditional medicine in India.
