| The Longleaf Pine tree takes around 100 to 150 years to grow full size and may live upto 500 years. Studies show Longleaf Pine forests are rich in biodiversity as they provide habitat for gopher tortoises, which dig burrows that provide habitat for hundreds of other species of animals. It is an adaptable tree as it can grow in wetlands and dry and sandy soil. The tree grows in a grass stage that lasts for two to five years.
