| A massive, ancient banyan known as the kabirbadh (kabirvad) grew on an island in the Narmada, 16 km upstream from Bharuch. It once had 320 large trunks and over 3,000 prop-roots, and could shelter 7,000 men. Part of the island was washed away by floods towards the end of the 19th century, and with it, portions of this great tree were lost. |
