| Blue Vanda or Autumn Lady’s Tresses is a species of orchid indigenous to Assam in India & China. It is locally known as ‘Bhatou phul’ in Assamese, ‘Kwaklei’ in Manipuri, ‘October’ in Mizo and ‘Vandaar’ in Sanskrit. Its bluish purple flowers are long lasting compared to other orchids. Juice from the ower is used as eye drops to treat glaucoma, cataract and blindness. |
