It is native to the Caribbean and can grow to around 12 meters or 40 feet. Oil from its leaves is distilled and used in making perfumes. The flavor of the perfume is intense and highly spiced. It is for this reason that in some parts of the Caribbean, the tree is known as ‘The Spice Tree’.
