“The Brown-winged Kingfisher is a resident of the #Sundarbans and inhabits tropical and subtropical mangrove forests.
Its a large coastal kingfisher with a large red bill whose prey include crab and fish. It detects its prey from perches in the mangroves; catches crabs by flying down low to land on the mud and rapidly seizes one. It is threatened by habitat loss and is listed as near threatened by the IUCN.
Sundarbans is the worlds largest contiguous tidal mangrove forest and is home to over 240 bird species.”
