Red-eyed tree frog

The Red-eyed tree frog spends majority of its life in trees!

It hides in the rain forest canopy and is found in parts of Mexico, Central America and South America.

This iconic rain-forest amphibian sleeps by day with its eyes closed and body markings covered. When disturbed, it flashes its bulging red eyes and reveals its webbed orange feet and bright blue and yellow flanks. This technique is called startle coloration, it may give a bird or snake pause, offering precious time for the frog to spring to safety.
