Philipine Tarsier

“Philipine Tarsier is one of the smallest tree dwelling primates on Earth!

It is found in both secondary and primary forest. It jumps through the trees to catch its food that is mainly insect based. Its long hind legs enable it to leap distances of up to 5 meters or 16 feet between branches. It is born with fur and eyes open and can climb trees within an hour of birth.

Relative to its weight, it has the largest eyes of all the mammals. The most distinctive features is its heads which can turn 180 degrees in both directions so that it can see behind without moving it’s body. Its image is printed on the 200 peso banknote of the Philippines.”
