Indian Lilac

“Indian Lilac can grow to 12 meters or 40 feet tall.

Its flowers are small and fragrant, with five pale purple or lilac petals that grow in clusters. Its fruit is a drupe, light yellow at maturity and not recommended for human consumption.

In traditional medicine, various parts are used to treat malaria, skin diseases and other ailments. Its fruits are used in making necklaces and rosaries. It is a popular shade tree in coffee plantations and planted as an avenue tree for its scented flowers and shady, spreading crown.
