Carnation

 

Carnation is native to the Mediterranean where it has been cultivated for over 2,000 years.

The flowers are sweetly scented and can be found in colours including red, white, yellow and green.

It was first used by the Greeks and Romans in garlands. The scientific name “Dianthus” is from the Greek words “dios” referring to the god Zeus and “anthos”, meaning flower. Hence, it is known as the “The Flowers of God”.
