“African Teak is a rapidly growing deciduous tree and can grow to 160 feet in height.
It has a strong hardwood that is resistant to termites. It can be used in the control of soil erosion and is a good shade tree planted alongside roads in urban areas.
Various parts of the tree are used in traditional medicine. The powdered bark is used to treat coughs, heart problems and exhaustion. The latex is used as an anti-tumour agent.
The tree regenerates easily and fresh seeds germinate soon depending on the climate. Due to excessive felling for its timber, it is currently declared as a threatened species by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature).”
