| Jmon Sugi is a large tree located on Yakushima and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Japan. The tree has a height of 83 feet and a trunk circumference of 54 feet and was discovered in 1968. It has a volume of approximately 10,000 cubic feet thus making it the largest conifer in Japan. It is the oldest and largest among the old-growth trees on the island and is estimated to be between 2,170 and 7,200 years old. |
