| Quince is a deciduous tree that can grow to a height of 26 feet. Its flowers have 5 petals that are pink or white and blossom during May or June. The fruits are edible when ripe, they look like pears and become golden-yellow when ripe. The fruit has been used in making jams, jellies, puddings and wine. In traditional medicine in the Middle East, the dried pits of the fruit have been used to treat sore throat and to relieve cough and as a cough medicine. It is commonly used for children as it is alcohol free. |
