| Large old trees are among the biggest organisms on Earth. They are keystone structures in forests, woodlands, savannas, agricultural landscapes and urban areas. Populations of large old trees are rapidly declining in many parts of the world, with serious implications. Australian National University’s research conducted on some of the worlds greatest forests from Yosemite National Park and the Brazilian Rainforest shows that the die-off rate of trees between 100 to 300 years is a grave concern and climate change is one of the biggest reasons for their decline. |
