Muyna

Muyna is a small tree native to India.

Its flowers are greenish white in colour and can be found during the months of March and April.

The fruits turn yellow when ripe, taste similar to Sapodilla (Chickoo) and can be eaten fresh. It can be made into a juice and also a wine. In the Indian state of Maharashtra, it is called ‘Huloo or Alu’ where
its unripe fruits are used as a vegetable.

It is a good source of antioxidants with a research report mentioning the use of different parts of the plant in the treatment of boils, dysentery and diphtheria.
