Mangosteen

It can grow to over 80 feet in height and is widely planted for its fruits. The fruit is dark-purple in colour with 4 to 8 triangular segments of snow-white, juicy and soft flesh. The fruit may be seedless or can have 1 to 5 fully developed seeds. It is slightly acidic in flavor and is known to be delicious.

Many parts of the plant have been used in traditional medicine in Southeast Asia to treat skin infections, wounds, dysentery and urinary tract infections.
