Lemon Grass

Lemon Grass is native to India and Southeast Asia.

Its oil is applied to repel mosquitoes that spread both dengue and malaria. Despite its ability to repel insects, it is used to attract honey bees.

It is commonly used in Asian cuisine and gets its name due to its lemony scent and taste.

Known as ‘gavati chaha’ in the Indian state of Maharashtra, it is used as an addition to tea with the preparations called ‘kadha’, a traditional herbal soup used to treat coughs, colds, etc. It is also used as an Ayurvedic medicine to relieve cough and nasal congestion.
