Giant Sequoia

This Giant Sequoia stands at 247 feet tall and is estimated to be over 3,200 years old.

The President as its known measures 45,000 cubic feet in volume, the trunk is 27 feet wide and its mighty branches hold 2 billion needles (leaves), the most of any tree on the planet.

On top of that, it still adds one cubic meter of wood per year – making it one of the fastest growing trees in the world.

After 32 days and stitching together 126 separate photos, National Geographic arrived with this breathtaking portrait of The President.

This amazing shot of the tree was featured as a five page fold-out in the December 2012 edition of National Geographic.
