| Silver Birch is only found at higher altitudes. It is the national tree of Finland. The bark is white with black diamond-shaped marks or larger patches at the base. Its sap contains around 1% sugars that can be drunk or brewed into a “wine”. The bark was used for tanning. It is also called Weeping Birch or European Weeping Birch and is one of the most widely used woods for veneer and plywood worldwide. |
