| Pond Apple is native to USA, the Caribbean, Central and South America and West Africa. It grows in swamps and is tolerant of saltwater and cannot grow in dry soil. It takes the tree a minimum of two years to flower and produce fruit. The fruit is edible and is made into a jam. A recent study has suggested that its alcoholic seed extract contains anti-cancer compounds. |
