Major Oak

Major Oak is a large English oak tree in the Sherwood Forest at Nottinghamshire, England.

Local folklore says it was Robin Hood’s shelter where he and his merry men slept. It weighs approximately 23 tons, has a width of 33 feet and is about 800 to 1000 years old.

The Tree Council designated the Major Oak as one of fifty Great British Trees in recognition of its place in the national heritage.
