Indian Strawberry

The Indian Strawberry has over 90% water, 7% carbohydrates, about 2% fiber, and less than 1% each of protein, fat, and ash. The fruit has 10 minerals and 10 vitamins.

The Indian strawberry is not technically a berry, but an accessory fruit. The whole plant is used in local medicine as it is an anticoagulant, antiseptic, depurative and febrifuge. Its fresh leaves can be crushed and applied externally as a medicinal poultice and is also used in the treatment of boils and abscesses, burns, weeping eczema, ringworm, snake and insect bites and traumatic injuries.

Indian Strawberry is used widely in China as a medicinal herb and is being studied for its ability to stop the HIV virus and some forms of cancer from spreading through the body.
