Indian Charcoa

Indian Charcoal tree’s wood is used in India and Tanzania to make charcoal.

It is also called ‘Pigeon Wood’ as pigeons and doves are often found in it where they eat the fruits, insects and make their nests.

The bark and leaves are used to treat coughs, sore throats, asthma, bronchitis, gonorrhea, yellow fever, toothache and as an antidote to general poisoning. A bark infusion is said to control dysentery.

It is a fast-growing species found in disturbed areas and forests.
