| Angel Oak is a live oak tree located in Angel Oak Park and is believed to be more than 400-500 years old. It is 66.5 ft in height with a circumference of 28 ft. The shade it produces covers 17,200 square ft. If you measure from tip to tip, its longest branch distance is 187 ft. The oak derives its name from the estate of Justis and Martha Angel. Stories told by local folklore are that of ghosts of former slaves would appear as angels around the tree. Angel Oak can be found at John’s Island near Charleston in South Carolina, USA. |
