Semal tree

The Semal tree’s bark and roots are a tonic and stimulant. A gummy exudation from the stem is used in traditional medicine to prepare aphrodisiac and to treat stomach disorders.

The leaves and twigs are lopped for fodder, and squirrels, deer and other wild animals feast on the fallen flowers. The silk cotton is collected to stuff pillows and quilts.
