Botanical Garden

The famous banyan tree can be found in the Botanical Garden in Kolkata and it began life on a wild date palm in 1782.

It is said to be over 250 years old, occupies about 1.6 hectares, has 100 subsidiary trunks, 1775 prop-roots and over 3300 aerial roots reaching the ground.
