Indian Laurel

“Indian Laurel is native to Southeast Asia.

It can grow to around 100 feet in height and flowers from May to June. The uniqueness of this tree is that it stores water in the stem that can be tapped and used as a source of potable water in the summer.

The leaves are used as food by a silkworm species which produces the tassar silk, a form of wild silk. The bark is used to treat diarrhoea. Both the bark and the fruit yield is used to dye and tan leather.”
