| Karmal can grow to 50 feet in height. Its yellow flowers are fragrant and are 2-7 flowered clusters that grow near the shoots of older leafless branches. The flower bud and fruits are eaten raw or cooked in western India. It can be found in the Western Ghats of India and is also called Dog Teak, Nepali elephant apple and Piwala Karmal in Marathi. It has been used in Ayurveda to treat wounds, diabetes and pneumonia. |
