| Japanese Wineberry is native to parts of Japan, Korea and China. It was introduced to Europe and North America as an ornamental plant. It grows in the wild throughout North America since its introduction in the 1890s and is considered an invasive species in some parts. Red raspberry, black raspberry and blackberry are mistaken for wineberry and are all edible. The ripe berries are sweet with a raspberry-like flavor. These delicious berries are found in abundance during summer and are used in pies and other sweet treats. |
