| Water chestnut or Singhara are floating aquatic plants growing around fresh water up to 5 meters deep and native to warm temperate regions. It have been cultivated in India and China for around 3,000 years for its edible seeds. The water caltrop’s submerged stem reaches 12 to 15 feet. The fruits are eaten raw or boiled. When the fruit has been dried, it is ground to a flour called ‘singhare ka atta’ and is used in many religious rituals by Hindus. |
