Jimson Weed

Jimson Weed or Datura is an annual herb which grows up to 5 feet tall.

All parts of Jimsonweed are poisonous. Leaves and seeds are the usual source of poisoning, but are rarely eaten due to its strong odour and unpleasant taste.

The Jamestown, VA settlers used jimsonweed to poison British soldiers, who then spent 11 days in a state of insanity until they came to their senses (and didn’t remember a thing).
Jimsonweed is common on overgrazed pastures, barnyards, and waste land preferring rich soils.
