Indian bay leaf

Indian bay leaf is locally known as ‘Tez Patta’ and is native to India, Nepal, Bhutan & China. Its leaves either fresh or dried are used in cooking for their distinctive flavor and fragrance. They are often used to flavor soups, stews, braises and pts in Mediterranean cuisine. The fresh leaves are very mild and do not develop their full flavor until several weeks after picking and drying.

Bay leaves have many medicinal properties and are used to treat high blood sugar, migraines, bacterial and fungal infections, and gastric ulcers. They contain eugenol which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
