Cloudberry

Cloudberry is native to alpine and arctic tundra. It is an edible fruit similar to raspberry. It can withstand cold temperatures below -40C and is sensitive to salt and dry conditions.

The ripe fruit is golden-yellow, juicy and rich in vitamin C. When eaten fresh, it has a distinctive tart taste and over-ripe fruits have a creamy texture like yogurt. They are made into jams, juices, tarts and liqueurs.

Tea made from its leaves was used in ancient Scandinavian herbal medicine to cure urinary tract infections.
