Sitka spruce

Sitka spruce is one of only five species of documented trees to reach a height of 300 feet. Its name is acquired from the community of Sitka in Alaska.

It was used as a medicine by several North American Indian tribes who used it for its antiseptic and pectoral qualities in the treatment of lung complaints, wounds and sores.

It is valued for its fast growth on poor soils where few other trees can be grown successfully
