Kanha and Pench National Parks of central India are important Tiger reserves and are home to the last surviving source populations of Tigers in the country. The S-shaped, 80-Kms, 4-5 kms wide wildlife corridor connecting Kanha and Pench National Parks faces threat of degradation. Tigers continue to be sighted and reported regularly along this wildlife corridor.
Improving the corridor by planting trees will help in the dispersal of Tiger populations from source sites, thereby increasing genetic diversity for long-term survival of the species, reduce man-animal conflicts, while creating about 8,250 workdays of jobs for mainly tribals and women, and providing shade, shelter and food to local communities, birds and animals.
Vodafone India, a leader in telecom services and in green initiatives, has now sponsored 200,000 trees since 2014 at this project.
